Thank you to all the entrants and commiserations if yours didn’t make it into the final six, better luck next year! Pictures of the six finalists’ entries are posted below.
I wondered about the wisdom of running the treasure hunt, was it silly and would people take part? Sometimes over the festive period I get a bit fed up if I’m cooped up indoors for too long, so I set myself the task of going out and collecting a few pretty bits from the garden. I found I enjoyed the sheer frivolity of the exercise and thought others might like to take part in this light-hearted challenge. Judging by the feedback I’ve received, having a reason to go outdoors and poke about in nature for a while was a positive thing for those who took part. One entry particularly struck me and that was number six, the flowers in the ‘rubbish’ vases. The entrant took themselves off to find the required items and found that everywhere they looked was rubbish. They were so appalled by this they decided the rubbish qualified as seasonal items found in nature and used some of the items they collected that day in their entry. A sad tale, making for a poignant entry.
